School is Out!! ~ Sister Night

School’s out & I’m totally exhausted!!!  I’m switching rooms with my 1st grade teaching partner (I think anyways - it's becoming sort of a nightmare) and so... yesterday we both spent hours moving our stuff out into the hallway.    Wow!  How can so much stuff manage to be accumulated in such a relatively short period of time!!!  As I was boxing up everything, I realized it was probably time to re-evaluate everything I have.  It is soooo hard to get rid of stuff.  But I can do it.... and I will!  (I hope)  I would show you pictures, but I’m absolutely terrible about taking pictures.  Maybe when I’m done...

I’m trying to decide on a class theme for next year.  There are so many to pick from, but I don’t want to spend millions of dollars switching over.  I’m leaning towards a BEE theme but I’m going to think about that a bit more.  Who knows...I might just end up with my cute little puppies again!

To celebrate the end of school, we are having a much needed sister night!!  Our plans are to watch a movie, but somehow I think we will be talking & eating popcorn more than watching the movie!  But who cares??? It's sister night!

Blessed To Be A Part Of Her Circle of Life

As this school year rapidly comes to an end, I’m overwhelmed with emotions that I don’t understand completely.  As I look through my student files I see the tremendous growth that each of my kiddos have made.  Yes, first grade is truly an amazing year of growth!   I smile, knowing that I’m just one of the many teachers they will encounter along their educational journey.  It makes my heart swell to know I was a small part.

I will miss the kiddos, but I will also miss the daily contact I have with the teachers I work with. My bestest teaching buddy is the one I will miss the most. I am definitely blessed to be able to teach 1st grade with her. Some people thought I had totally lost my mind when I decided to switch from 4th grade to 1st grade. To be honest, I had never even considered teaching 1st grade until I saw her personal interaction with her firsties. What love and compassion she has for them! Truly a gift! I knew I wanted the opportunity to work with her.

For the past few years, our friendship has deepened as we shared pieces of our lives with each other.   She has taught me so much, most of which is not even possible to obtain from reading any type of book.   There are some teachers that you just want to be more like.  She is absolutely one of those teachers.  As I talk to her, I am like a sponge, trying to absorb as much information as I can.

Thankfully, our friendship goes beyond the normal teacher/friend relationship.  She is special and I feel honored and blessed to be a part of her circle of life.   We will see each other throughout the summer, but I will definitely miss the daily interaction with her.

Blessings everyone!

Summer Bucket List

Summer break is almost here and I am more than ready for it to begin. Just thinking about creating a bucket list has me all excited!!!

Here is the beginning of my bucket list...there are way too many to list.
  • Spend time enjoying our beautiful lake (really a huge pond) with my hubby, dogs, family, and friends.
  • Read books that have absolutely nothing to do with education.
  • Catch up on my daily Bible reading (yikes I'm really really really far behind)
  • Travel to the East Coast with my husband.
  •  Practice playing my clarinet.
  • Try out some new recipes that I never seem to have time to make.
  • Clean out my garage - very low on the list, but definitely needs it!
  • Continue to stalk bloggers.
  • Sort through the millions of things that I have downloaded over the past year.

Okay, that is a nice starting point... Come and join Hadar, Teri, and April and share you bucket list too!
