Expired

Expired...

Driver’s License?

          Credit Cards?

               Gift Cards?

                    Medicine?

                         Coupons?

                              Warranties?

                                 Milk?

The list could go on and on.

 Expired.

The nurse said that's what happened to my Grandma.

A young, sensitive, impressionable young girl should not have been told that someone she loved had simply expired ~ she needed another family member to be there ... to share her grief.

Years later . . .  I detest that word.

  1. This makes my heart sad...expired is not a very sensitive word when dealing with the death of a loved one for sure!

...but, on a similar note...I took a drink of milk this morning only to discover it had EXPIRED!!! Ugghhhhhhh!

  2. OK, that's powerful. I agree with Marie, not a very sensitive word . . . and nasty when it happens to your milk!! On the other hand, I love it when Bed, Bath & Beyond accepts expired coupons!!! And when you think something expires at the end of March only to find out it really said May . . .

    In awe of your writing,

  3. That seems so cruel. I am sorry that you had to experience that alone. I'm with Barbara, in awe of your writing.
